MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Reliever Jorge López was reinstated by the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday after using his time on the 15-day injured list to address his mental health. The 30-year-old right-hander said he spent time talking to a psychologist after he had acted out in frustration during his struggles on the mound even before being placed on the injured list. As he hoped when he was first put on the IL, López returned quickly, needing just the minimal stay.“I’m excited. I’m really pumped,” López said Tuesday. “These 15 days, they were something really good for me, to take advantage to be here today and be back to where I want to be. I’m just glad to be back with the team.”López, a 2022 All-Star who was acquired at the trade deadline last year from Baltimore, didn’t allow an earned run in April, holding opponents to a .140 batting average over 12 innings and 13 appearances. He surrendered two earned runs in his first outing in May. Over his next 16 appearances, he gave up 15 e...One month into toe injury, Aaron Judge begins hitting off a tee but says he’s unable to run

One month into his recovery from a torn ligament in his right toe, Aaron Judge has started hitting off a tee but said Tuesday he is still unable to run.“I got to be able to run,” Judge said before the Yankees continued a four-game series with the Orioles. “If I can run then I can play. Me running at 10 percent ain’t going to help anybody out there.”Judge said being able to put weight on his backfoot is the biggest factor in how fast he can return from an injury that is unusual for a baseball player.“Besides running it’s me being able to put 270 pounds on one leg when I’m hitting,” Judge said. “Once we build up that strength and get the pain and all that all out of there, we’re going to be in a good spot. I understand you’re going to deal with some pain coming back so it’s just about getting to a point where it’s tolerable and we’re not setting ourselves back here.”Monday marked one month since Judge got hurt when he crashed into the right-field wall at Dodger Stadium while making a ...Trinity Rodman could be poised for a breakout in her World Cup debut for the US

Trinity Rodman collected the ball just outside the penalty area and needed just one more touch to send it into the lower left corner of the net.About a month shy of her 20th birthday, she’d scored her first goal for the U.S. women’s national team. That was April 2022 in a blowout win over Uzbekistan. Now, a far greater stage awaits at the Women’s World Cup beginning later this month. On a U.S. team that will soon have to embrace a new generation of standouts, Rodman belongs on any list of possible breakout stars in Australia and New Zealand. But with those expectations comes a new kind of pressure. She’s dealt with that in various forms throughout her short career, and now she’s ready for this next challenge.“I’m so honored, proud, and just excited for this opportunity,” she said. “At this age, there’s so much time to accomplish things, but to experience it this early has been so amazing, and I’m just so excited.”The daughte...Accuser says he told Kevin Spacey after crude advance, ‘I don’t bat for that team’

LONDON (AP) — A man who met Kevin Spacey in a pub says that at one point when they were alone during a night of heavy drinking with others, the actor kissed his neck twice and grabbed his crotch. The two-time Oscar winner looked panicked after he was pushed away and was told, “I am sorry, man, I don’t bat for that team,” the witness said. The man’s interview with police was played Tuesday for jurors in Spacey’s sexual assault trial in a London courtroom.Spacey, 63, has pleaded not guilty to a dozen charges that could send him to prison if he is convicted. His lawyer said Spacey denies all allegations of nonconsensual acts and suggested the accusers are looking for payouts from a wealthy star. Allegations by four men from 2001 to 2013 while the American actor worked at the Old Vic Theatre include seven counts of sexual assault, three counts of indecent assault and causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent. The witness, who can’t be named...UK police reopen partygate probe into lockdown-breaching Conservative ‘jingle and mingle’ bash

LONDON (AP) — British police on Tuesday reopened an investigation into lockdown-breaching government parties after viewing video of Conservative Party staffers dancing and drinking at a 2020 Christmas soiree. The “jingle and mingle” party at Conservative headquarters was held when indoor social mixing was barred under rules imposed to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The Metropolitan Police force said it also was looking into a gathering in Parliament on Dec. 8, 2020 reportedly attended by members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The announcement reopens investigations into “partygate” that the government had hoped were finished. The revelation that political staffers held birthday gatherings, garden parties and “wine time Fridays” in the prime minister’s office and other government buildings during the pandemic sparked anger among Britons who had followed the rules, unable to visit friends and family or even say goodbye to dying relatives in hospitals.

Granados inform...Las Vegas Aces’ bond on and off the court leads to success

Candace Parker sees a lot of similarities between the Las Vegas Aces and the 2016 Los Angeles Sparks team she played for that won a WNBA title.A lot of it has to do with the friendships the players share off the court.“Our team was really, really close,” said Parker, who came to Las Vegas as a free agent in the offseason. “I don’t think it’s by accident that you have success on the court when you’re cool off the court.”The Aces sit at 15-1 after routing both New York and Connecticut, which have the next two best records in the league. That’s the best start to a season since Los Angeles went 20-1 in 2016.“In terms of the mentality of this team it reminds me a lot of 2016,” Parker said. “It was just business-like game to game. It didn’t matter the result, it was whether we did what we were supposed to do.” If the Aces keep playing the way they are, they have a chance to approach the 1998 Houston Comets team that went 27-3 for the highest winning percentag...Colorado July 4th fireworks 2023: Schedule and cancellations
